The value of the SYNERGYDE environment variable is set by the runtime and certain other tools based on the settings for SYNERGYDE32 and SYNERGYDE64, depending on whether the program being run is a 32- or 64-bit program. (The other tools are isutl, ismvfy, irecovr, dbl, dblink, dblibr, dblproto, dbl2xml, fconvert, fcompare, smc_elb, Workbench, and Visual Studio.)
You should never set SYNERGYDE directly in the environment; in fact, doing so, especially in Synergy .NET, can cause unexpected program failures. However, SYNERGYDE can be used in the synergy.ini file, so that you can use a common synergy.ini for both 32- and 64-bit environments.
