lmcheck utility

WTSupported in traditional Synergy on Windows
WNSupported in Synergy .NET on Windows
USupported on UNIX

The lmcheck utility checks for connectivity between a license server (or a system with stand-alone licensing) and the Synergy License Web Service.

lmcheck [-pp=hostname:port|none|default] [-d] [-u srv] [-v] [-h|-?]

-pp=hostname:port|none|default

Specify a specific proxy (hostname:port) to be used when contacting the Synergy License Web Service.

On Windows, if -pp is not passed and a proxy is configured on the system, it will be used; otherwise, the default WinHTTP setting will be used. (See the note in the Discussion for more information.) If a proxy is configured and you do not want lmcheck to use it, pass -pp=none to use direct access.

On UNIX, if -pp is not passed, direct access is used.

On both Windows and UNIX, passing “default” is the same as not passing -pp, and on UNIX, passing “none” is effectively the same as “default.”

The -pp option is used only by lmcheck; it does not change the system setting.

-d

Perform extended diagnostic messaging. Run this option when requested to do so by Synergy/DE Developer Support.

-u srv

For internal use only.

-v

Display current version of License Manager.

-h or -?

Display a list of lmcheck options.

The lmcheck utility checks for connectivity to the Synergy License Web Service and returns a success or failure message. If the connectivity check is a success, lmcheck also checks for a valid license in the Synergex database and tells you whether the system is ready for polling.

We recommend that you run lmcheck before installing Synergy/DE 11 or the REV11 licensing upgrade package to ensure that the system can connect to the Synergy License Web Service. It can also be used for troubleshooting.

This utility is distributed with Synergy/DE 11 and higher; it can also be downloaded from the Downloads area of the Synergex Resource Center.

On Windows, if you have both 32-bit and 64-bit Synergy/DE installed on a 64-bit system, you will have both 32- and 64-bit versions of lmcheck. Use the 64-bit version.

Note

On Windows, WinHTTP may be configured to use a proxy or it may be configured for direct access. If you have configured a proxy through Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections tab (this is sometimes referred to as an IE proxy setting), it will be set for WinINET, but not for WinHTTP, and lmcheck will not use it. You will need to use -pp to specify the proxy. For additional information on using a proxy, see Using a proxy server with REV11 licensing.
