Configuring Data Access
Once you’ve installed and configured xfODBC, created a system catalog and connect file, and taken other needed steps outlined in The steps to ODBC access, you’re almost ready for ODBC access to your Synergy data. First, however, you will need to do the following, which are detailed in the topics listed below: create a DSN (which points to the connect file and sets some data access options), set any needed network layer options (i.e., SQL OpenNet options, including settings for SSL encryption), and set xfODBC data access options, including options for security and the xfODBC driver. See the following topics, and for additional information on SQL OpenNet, see Configuring Connectivity Series.
