VORTEX_HOME

Location of Connectivity Series default settings

WTSupported in traditional Synergy on Windows
WNSupported in Synergy .NET on Windows
USupported on UNIX
VSupported on OpenVMS

The VORTEX_HOME environment variable specifies the location of the lib subdirectory that contains net.ini, which is used for encryption and other SQL Connection and SQL OpenNet settings, and sql.msg, xfODBC’s default error message file.

The directory (connect\synodbc) that contains the lib subdirectory ([.lib] on OpenVMS) that contains the net.ini and sql.msg files.

SQL Connection looks for net.ini in the current directory or in VORTEX_HOME/lib.

If set, the GENESIS_MSG_FILE environment variable overrides the location of sql.msg specified by VORTEX_HOME.

On Windows, VORTEX_HOME is set by the Connectivity Series feature of the 32-bit and 64-bit Synergy/DE installations, the 32-bit and 64-bit Synergy/DE Client installations, and the 32-bit and 64-bit xfODBC Client installations. If both 32-bit and 64-bit Connectivity Series (or Synergy/DE Client or xfODBC Client) are installed on the same 64-bit machine, VORTEX_HOME is set by the last version installed.

On UNIX, VORTEX_HOME is set by setsde; on OpenVMS, it’s set by SYS$MANAGER:CONNECT_STARTUP.COM.
